ˈpize-ball local. Also piseball, pizeball. [f. pize v. + ball n.1 4.] A game similar to rounders in which the ball is hit with the flat of the hand. (See also quot. 1883.) Played mainly in Yorkshire and Derbyshire.

It was often partly coloured and ornamented; now it is sometimes of india-rubber and hollow. 1957R.
