A copper-containing enzyme which effects the oxidation of hydroquinones to quinones, involved in the setting of lac.
1895Jrnl. R. Microsc. Soc. 649 Laccase resembles the diastatic ferments in its properties, except that, instead of hydrolysing, it incites direct oxidation. 1899J. R.
