[Hawaiian mu'u mu'u lit. cut off, from the fact that the yoke was originally omitted.]
A woman's loose-fitting dress, usually brightly coloured and patterned, which originated in Hawaii as a local adaptation of the ‘Mother Hubbard’ dress provided by the missionaries.
