A derivative of barbituric acid given intravenously as an anaesthetic in medical and veterinary use; also (more fully methohexitone sodium), the sodium salt of this. (1-methyl-5-allyl-5-[1-methyl-2-pentynyl]) barbituric acid, C₁₄H₁₈N₂O₃ .
Methohexitone is the British Approved Name for the compound: cf *methohexital n.
