lixiviation|ˌlɪksɪvɪˈeɪʃən| [ad. mod.L. *lixīviātiōn-em, agent-n. f. lixīviāre: see prec. Cf. F. lixiviation.] The action or process of separating a soluble substance from one that is insoluble by the percolation of water, as salts from wood ashes.
