[The names of Yakir Aharonov, 20th-cent. Israeli physicist, and David Bohm (1917–92), U.S.-born physicist.]
Used attrib. (esp. in Aharonov–Bohm effect) with reference to a phenomenon predicted by Aharonov and Bohm in 1959 (Physical Rev. CXV. 485), whereby electrons propagating around a region containing magnetic flux acquire a phase-shift of their wave function proportioned to the linked flux.
