1965Mountaineering (ed. 2) xi. 171 Sizes [of pitons] vary from the tiny ‘crack-tack’ or ‘rurp’..to giant ‘bong-bong’ angle pitons... Bong-bongs up to 6 inches in width can be used in cracks too small for stemming. 1965A.
