A rendering of the ancient names Apocynum and Cynoctonum, given to various plants reputed to be poisonous to dogs, chiefly of the orders Asclepiadaceæ and Apocynaceæ; now a book-name of the latter, and specifically of Apocynum androsæmifolium.
