A. adj. Belonging to the extinct suborder Rhamphorhynchoidea of pterosaurs of the late Triassic and early Jurassic, characterized by a short neck and a long bony tail.
B. n. A rhamphorhynchoid pterosaur.

The rhamphorhynchoid type is extinct, and by the Upper Cretaceous we find surviving only short-tailed pterodactyloids. 1981Sci. Amer.
