a. Of the nature of or consisting of a phrase. Used in Gram. in collocations qualifying the name of a part of speech to denote phrases which have the function of that part of speech, esp. phrasal verb, an idiomatic verbal phrase consisting of a verb and adverb or a verb and preposition.
