The names of Eugen von Hippel (1867–1939), German ophthalmologist, and Arvid Lindau (see *Lindau n.), used attrib. and in the possessive in von Hippel–Lindau('s) disease, syndrome, an inherited disorder characterized by the presence of haemangioblastomas in the cerebellum, in association with retinal angiomas and often with growths or cysts in the kidneys or pancreas.
