The saying or writing of one word or phrase when another is meant.

White in Galaxy Nov. 693 The assertion made is most often not merely something that the speaker or writer does not mean to say, but its very reverse, or at least something notably at variance with his purpose. For this reason I have called it heterophemy, which means merely the speaking otherwise. 1885― Stud.
