[f. the name of the Indian physicist S. N. Bose (1894–1974) + -on.]
Any particle which has a symmetric wave-function and which therefore obeys Bose-Einstein statistics; also attrib. Cf. fermion. Also intermediate boson, a boson postulated to exist as a quantum or intermediary of weak interactions.
