† maˈlactic, a. and n. ? Obs. [ad. Gr. µαλακτικ-ός, f. µαλακ-, stem of µαλάσσειν to soften, cogn. w. µαλακός soft.] a. adj. Adapted to soften; emollient. b. n. An emollient medicine. Hence maˈlactical a., in the same sense.
