The name of Hans Heinrich Queckenstedt (1876–1918), German physician, used attrib. and in the possessive to denote the procedure proposed by him (Deutsch. Zeitschr. f. Nervenheilk. (1916) LV. 326) of compressing a patient's jugular veins while observing the pressure of the cerebrospinal fluid (the absence of a marked increase in this indicating obstruction of the subarachnoid space).

(ed. 2) 1175/2 Queckenstedt's test, in healthy persons pressure on the veins of the neck causes a prompt rise in the pressure of the cerebrospinal fluid, which disappears on release of the pressure on the veins.1934D.
