‖ periplus|ˈpɛrɪplʌs| [L. periplūs (Pliny), a. Gr. περίπλους a sailing round, f. περί around + πλόος, πλοῦς voyage: in F. périple, It., Sp. periplo.] 1. The action of sailing round, circumnavigation; a voyage (or journey) round a coast-line, etc.; a circuit. b. transf. A narrative of such a voyage.
