1. A person who inhabits a boggy area. Hence (chiefly Irish English, freq. derogatory): a person from a rural area, a peasant.

2. Any of the bodies, typically belonging to pre-Christian Germanic cultures, found in a well-preserved state in peatbogs in Britain and elsewhere in northern Europe.
