ˈfinger-stone
†1. A stone sufficiently small to be cast by the hand. Also attrib. Obs.
c1400Mandeville (Roxb.) xi. 46 A lytil þeine, as it ware a fynger stane cast, es anoþer chapell. 1688I. Clayton in Phil. Trans. XVII. 984 They are so nigh the Shoar, that a Man may almost fling a Finger-stone on Board.
2. A cylindrical stone, convexly tapering to a point; a belemnite.
