In Ionic verse: an interchange of the final long syllable of the first metron with the opening short syllable of the second.
1784J. B. Seale Anal. Gr. Metres 25 In the intermediate places a second Pæon is occasionally joined to a second or third Epitrite, so that the two Feet together are equal in time to two Ionic Feet.
