a. Of or pertaining to a person in pupillarity.
b. Belonging to a pupil or scholar.
pupillary substitution (Rom. Law): nomination of a substitute to take on the death in pupillarity of an institute who had succeeded; in effect, a testament made by a father for his child living or posthumous, to take effect in the event of the latter dying under puberty and before he could make one for himself. (Muirhead Inst. Gaius, etc. 597.)
