spodic, a. Soil Science.|ˈspɒdɪk| [f. Gr. σποδ-ός wood ashes, embers + -ic.] Of a soil horizon: that is an illuvial deposit rich in aluminium oxide and organic matter and usu. also contains iron oxide.
