[ad. L. emporēticus (emporetica charta Pliny H.N. xiii. xii), a. Gr. *ἐµπορητικός, f. *ἐµπορέειν to trade, f. ἔµπορος merchant.]
Pertaining to trade. emporetic paper: a coarse kind of papyrus used for wrapping up parcels. (Quincy Lex. Phys.-Med. 1719 wrongly explains this as ‘paper made soft and porous, such as is used to filter with’.)
