[ad. mod.L. hēmipodius (Temminck's generic name), f. Gr. ἡµι- hemi- + πούς, ποδ-ός foot.]
A member of the genus Hemipodius, or Turnix, of three-toed quail-like birds; a bush-quail, ortygan.
