[f. L. Memnoni-us (a. Gr. Μεµνόνειος, f. Μεµνον-, Μέµνων Memnon) + -an.]
a. Pertaining to the demigod Memnon, traditionally said to have erected the citadel or palace at Susa; hence used as an epithet of Susa or Persia generally.
b. Having the property of the statue at Thebes in Egypt, believed by the Greeks to represent Memnon, and said to give forth a musical sound when touched by the dawn.
