The maidenhair tree (Ginkgo biloba) native to China and Japan and cultivated elsewhere, with wedge-shaped leaves and yellow flowers, the only living species of the order Ginkgoales which flourished in the Mesozoic era. Also attrib., as ginkgo-nut, ginkgo-tree.
