[The name of H. A. Weil (1848–1916), German physician, who described the disease in 1886 (Deutsch. Archiv f. Klin. Med. XXXIX. 210).]
Weil's disease, a severe, sometimes fatal, form of leptospirosis that is characterized by fever, jaundice, and muscle pains and is acquired by infection from the urine of rats.
