Khilafat|kɪˈlɑːfət|
[ad. Arab. ḵilāfat caliphate, office or rule of a caliph.]
The spiritual headship of Islam, residing in the person of the Turkish Sultan; used attrib. to designate the Muslim anti-British movement in India after the treaty of Sèvres in 1920. Hence Khila-fatist, a supporter of this agitation.
