[Short for concio ad clerum, discourse to the clergy.]
A Latin sermon, preached on certain occasions at the English Universities.
1655Fuller Hist. of Camb. Univ. vi. 5 (D.) This I heard in a clerum from Dr. Collings. Ibid. vii. 17 On Saturday following, immediately after the clerum, he should go up into the pulpit of St. Mary's. [1802Camb. Univ. Cal. 41 The Lady Margaret's Preachers are now required, by their office, to preach a Latin Sermon, or Concio ad Clerum, before the University the day preceding each Term.]
