A form of tachycardia characterized by the gradually oscillating amplitude of the ventricular electrical pulse, resulting in an electrocardiogram which resembles a twisted fringe of spikes; orig. used to denote this observed symptom (first described by F. Dessertenne 1966, in Arch. des Maladies du Coeur et des Vaisseaux LIX. 263).
