1. trans. To raise the spirits of (a person); to restore to cheerfulness.
1597A. M. tr. Guillemeau's Fr. Chirurg. *iij, Recreate the afflicted, relevate and conforte the depressed and humbled. 1603Mirr. Worldly Fame in Harl. Misc. (Malh.)
